The Material album is Yuna’s first malay album to debut all her Malay songs and singles. The album consist of 7 songs where the song titled “Material” is the lead single for the album. Most of the songs have been released in the last few years as separate singles. The new arrangement to each song has added a fresh new kick to each song.
The objective of the album is to bring forward her longing towards Malaysia and to keep base with her Malaysian fans. Yuna has been releasing English albums in Malaysia and has also been living abroad for the past 5 years to release her international album. This album is a tribute to home as all of the songs is in the mother tongue of her beloved country, Malaysia. Remembering her roots is the ultimatum.
Just like the single “Material”, it tells the story of how Yuna wants to live in a Material world with all the fame and pressure she has gone through, over the years of her success. However, she overcomes it by reminding herself where she came from and to always go back to her roots. She reminds herself with her friends, family and fans support from the beginning of her career which all started in Malaysia.
This album is all about her going back to her roots and combining her new life and sounds to it. It is an album to put together the “old” and the “new”.
