Under a soaring roof, Skytropolis is a giddy homage to awe-inspiring carnivals that defined entertainment in the early 20th century. Here, under neon colours and bright lights, guests can wander a magical space with Genting’s Highland Heroes mascots in search of endless fun. Whether it is children looking for a lively time, entertainment fit for the whole family or adrenaline-packed experiences for thrill seekers, there is something for everybody at Skytropolis Funland.
Visitors to the indoor theme park can choose from 3 categories of rides, ranging from gentle merry-go-rounds to gravity-defying drops. In the Low Thrill category – suitable for children aged 6 to 12 – little ones can be taken on a gentle introduction to the charms of Skytropolis (strict height restrictions apply). Kids can see the world from a new perspective in the Loop de Loop miniature track ride, hop onto an ornate animal under a gleaming gilded roof for the Ride ‘Em Round merry-go-round or hitch a ride on gigantic bugs for a spinning great time on Whirly Bugs. The height restrictions for these three rides is 90cm to 122cm.
For a little bit more action, they can also strap into a colourful bumper car in the Boo Boo Bump arena for a rollicking good time (height range: 105cm to 140cm) or get up high in the Jumping Spurs mini-drop tower (height range: 92cm to 122cm). For Low Thrill rides, parental supervision for child guests are required at all times.
If mom and dad want to get in on the fun as well, then Medium Thrill family rides are the perfect place for the whole family to yell in delight and laugh together. So, get a ticket to alight on the Copper Express – an open-top train ride that puffs its way across the floor of Skytropolis – or jump onto beautiful carved horses on the musical, magical double-storey Royal Carousel.
Momentum speeds up a little in the Balloon Race that spins gaily in the air, while guests on Space Cadets can swirl around above the ground to experience the invigorating sensation of flight. For these four rides, children between the heights of 80cm and 122cm must be accompanied by an adult supervising companion aged 16 or more, and are not suitable for children below the height of 80cm.
Families with a little more thirst for heights can always sit down on the magnificent Skyscraper Ferris Wheel that offers a bird’s eye view of Skytropolis from the plush comfort of shining gondolas. Need more thrills? Then please pile into oversized Tea Cups that spin and twirl in bright delight. Child guests must be between 90cm and 122cm height to ride on Skyscraper or must be between 105cm to 130cm in height for Tea Cups; all children must be accompanied by an adult supervising companion aged 16 or more during these rides.
For those brave enough can ramp up the intensity, the High Thrill rides are just what the excitement doctor ordered. Start off at Disco!, to experience what it must feel like to be on a spinning top, whirling around and back-and-forth on a gigantic spinning disc with increasing velocity. Then move along with Power Surge, which takes guests a wild spinning ride high above the Skytropolis floor in all directions, including upside down! Guests must be at least 122cm in height to ride on Bumper Boss and Power Surge.
If your head hasn’t stopped spinning yet, then consider a ride on the appropriately-named Spin Crazy, where guests will be spun 360 degrees around a central tower at thrilling speeds. Once back to solid ground, it will be time to grab the keys to the ignition and start your engines at Bumper Boss, a supersized bumper car arena where guests should be ready to give as good as they get. For Spin Crazy, guests must be between 130am and 195cm to ride; for Bumper Boss, guests must be above 120cm to ride, and guests between 120cm and 130cm must be accompanied by a supervising companion aged 16 or above.
But the thrills don’t stop there. Get into the groove with Music Express, rotating and pirouetting with unpredictable speed and imperceptible directions forward, backwards and everything in between to the disco-tastic beat. And then the truly fearless can allow themselves to be lifted almost 30 metres in the air, before being plunged back to the ground at gravity-defying speeds in Sky Towers. Guests must be at least 130cm in height or accompanied by a supervising companion aged 16 or above if between 130cm and 140cm in height for Music Express. For Sky Towers, guests must be at 105cm in height to ride; guests between the height of 105cm and 122cm must be accompanied by a supervising companion aged 16 or above.
