UNIQLO Malaysia today announces its All-Product Recycling Initiative, to donate recycled and refurbished UNIQLO clothing to refugees in Malaysia, in support of The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Starting from 2 April 2014, Malaysians can play their part in support of UNIQLO’s All-Product Recycling Initiative by contributing their used UNIQLO clothes at any UNIQLO store in Malaysia.
The All-Product Recycling Initiative is part of UNIQLO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment. It started in 2006, when UNIQLO recycled donated clothing as material for the textile industry. However, as most of the items received from UNIQLO’s customers were still very wearable, UNIQLO extended the value of the donated clothes by sharing them with those in need.
UNIQLO’s Recycling Project Brings Truly Great Clothing to People in Need the World Over
[dropcap]S[/dropcap]atoshi Onoguchi, Managing Director of UNIQLO (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and UNIQLO (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., said: “In line with UNIQLO’s CSR vision of “Making the World a Better Place”, we consistently challenge ourselves by seeking ways to make a difference for the world. By bringing this recycling initiative to Malaysia, we hope UNIQLO’s clothes will bring joy to the lives of those who need them most.”
Clothes Should Not Be Seen as Disposable – Aside from producing truly great clothing, UNIQLO believes in its responsibility to collect these products and give them new purpose. As an apparel brand, UNIQLO wishes to maximize the value of clothing. Based on this concept, UNIQLO will continue to deliver clothing to all people in need through its All-Product Recycling Initiative.
Support to Date and Details on UNIQLO Recycling – UNIQLO’s ultimate goal is to provide clothing that meets the demands of every single person. Since 2007, UNIQLO, along with its global partner, UNHCR, have delivered clothing to refugees, evacuees, victims of disaster, expectant and nursing mothers, and others in need around the world.
UNIQLO believes there are still many, many people around the world who are in need. Having as many customers as possible bring in items for recycling helps steadily widen the circle of support UNIQLO has created for people living in difficult circumstances.
