Turkey’s rising fashion designer, Songül Cabacı, debuts her collection in Malaysia at the KL Fashion Week Ready To Wear 2015. Turkey Tourism is the Official Partner for Malaysia’s biggest premier fashion event.
Known for her classic but modern designs, Songül Cabacı, is based in Istanbul and is one of Turkey’s young promising fashion designers. Inspired by Hermetica Wisdom Texts, her S/S 2015 collection featured a unique main concept of stunning laser cuts. Models paraded down the runway with a medley of dresses, jackets, vests and leather pieces in colours of white, blue, salmon, grey and black.
“I would like to thank Turkey Tourism for inviting me to participate and showcase my collection for the first time in Malaysia at this prestigious event. I’m honoured to represent Turkey and I hope that through my designs, Malaysians will have a glimpse and introduction to the vibrant fashion scene back home,” expressed Songül Cabacı.
Serving as Europe’s largest textile manufacturer, Turkey takes pride in its successful textile industry with a history that dates back to the 16th century. Today, Turkey is transforming from a textile hub to a fashion capital at a flourishing rate. This evolution has led to great opportunities for international companies; more importantly, this shift provides a platform for aspiring and professional designers to differentiate themselves nationally and internationally as well.
“While Turkey is widely celebrated for its rich historical culture, turquoise seas and beautiful sandy beaches, the country’s own fashion scene has been thriving to become a fashion arena recognised internationally. From tourist attractions to a fashion hub, Turkey will prosper to become one of the top fashion capitals of the world one day,” said Turkey Ambassador to Malaysia, Ambassador Başak Türkoğlu.
She adds, “According to the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations (ITKIB), it is expected that the industry itself will accumulate 80 billion dollars annually by 2023. Indeed, the rise of the fashion industry not only encourages local talent and creativity but it has also paved the way for many business opportunities.”
The bilateral relationship between Turkey and Malaysia continues to foster this time in the name of fashion. Songül Cabacı is one of the five international designers invited to take part in the show with Turkey Tourism as the official partner for the KL Fashion Week Ready To Wear 2015.
About Turkey Tourism
Turkey is, above anything else, a huge open-air museum, a repository of all the civilizations nurtured by the soils of Anatolia. Recently, a new field of tourism has opened up: health tourism. The country is in fact rich with hot springs, healing waters and healing muds. For centuries, Turkey has also been a crossroads of religions, not only of Islam and Christianity, but also of many others now forgotten by history. Many religious devotees can find a site, a shrine, a monument, a tomb or a ruin connected with their faith or belief.
