TUNE TALK PRESENTS 1MALAYSIA LION DANCE TO USHER IN CHINESE NEW YEAR
Visitors to Sungei Wang Plaza shopping complex here today were enthralled by a special lion dance performance organised by Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid.
The dancers made a special performance for Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid’s flagship dealer, GAP Phone. Tune Talk CEO Jason Lo was also present at the ceremony.
Lo said: “Tune Talk is ushering in the New Year of the Rabbit with a difference by presenting a multiracial lion dance troupe to ‘bless’ our dealers nationwide. This is a special occasion as we want to celebrate this auspicious festival with all our dealers and subscribers.”
The 40-member strong Muhibah Lion Dance Troupe has been on a road tour visiting 95 of Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid’s selected dealers, kicking off with the Northern region on 20 January. Its last performance is scheduled for Johor Bahru on 29 January.
The troupe is reputed to be one of the few multiracial lion dance troupes in Malaysia. Of its 40 members, only 12 are Chinese while the rest are Indians and Malays, including Sabahans. What makes it more special is 4 of the team members are girls.
The troupe is led by James Attygalle, a Sinhalese-Chinese, while the comic lion caretaker character or ‘Tai Toh Fatt’ is played by J. Desa, an Indian.
The group was formed in 1985 and has been performing extensively for various functions and occasions. Its members come from various professional backgrounds including engineers and senior managers.
