Season two of FOX International Channels’ original production, “The Walking Dead”, will premier in Malaysia this weekend exclusively on STAR
Movies and STAR Movies HD! An epic, survival adventure series from the director of The Shawshank Redemption and the producer of The Terminator and Aliens, the US premier of this series delivered the strongest telecast for any drama in cable history.
“The Walking Dead” is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman which tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The comic goes on to explore the challenges of life in a world overrun by zombies who take a toll on the survivors, and sometimes the interpersonal conflicts present a greater danger to their continuing survival than the zombies that roam the country. Over time, the characters are changed by the constant exposure to death and some grow willing to do anything to survive.
Continuing on from the previous season, season two sees police officer Rick Grimes and the group on the road again, after failing to find answers at the Center of Disease Control. Their struggle for survival takes them out of Atlanta in search for a safe haven in a world ravaged by the zombie epidemic.
Writer Rober Kirkman serves as an executive producer on the project and three-time Academy Award-nominee Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) serves as writer, director and executive producer, with Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens, Armageddon, The Incredible Hulk) adding to the team.
In Malaysia, Season One of “The Walking Dead” was a resounding success on the FX HD channel. FOX International Channels anticipates another successful season of “The Walking Dead”. And in an effort to cater to a wider group of consumers, FOX International Channels will telecast Season Two of ”The Walking Dead” on STAR Movies and STAR Movies HD. This series secured a 2010 Golden Globe nomination for best television series and won the 2011 Emmy award for outstanding
prosthetic make-up.
“The Walking Dead” launches globally this week on all Fox International Channels worldwide. The season two premiere on the US basic cable channel AMC delivered 4.8 million Adults 18-49 and 4.2 million Adults 25-54 shattering a basic cable record set nearly 10 years ago for a single drama telecast. More than 120 countries are able to tune in to watch the season premiere before the second episode airs in the US, projecting similarly strong ratings trend
outside of the US.
