FOX International Channels ushers in 2012 with the launch of new channels on Astro, featuring latest Hollywood blockbusters, original drama series, live events, concerts and award-winning documentaries.
Movie fans all over the country are set to enjoy a whole new era of entertainment that will be even more rewarding and exciting when FOX International Channels debuts the all-new FOX Movies Premium (Ch 413) and FOX Movies Premium HD (Ch 433) on Astro beginning 1 January 2012.
The launch of the new channel is part of FOX International Channels’ commitment to further strengthen its lead position in the entertainment genre, where STAR Movies and STAR Movies HD will be evolving to the new FOX Movies Premium and FOX Movies Premium HD. FOX Movies Premium is available on the Astro Movies Package, while Astro Movies Package customers on Astro B.yond will be able to enjoy FOX Movies Premium HD.
A first-of-its-kind, FOX Movies Premium is a revolutionary new viewer-centric approach to the movie and entertainment channel, designed for discerning audience who wants and expects more from TV channels. The channel will offer a diverse range of content that is carefully selected to suit and ‘stretch’ the tastes of its viewers with the aim of keeping them ahead of the entertainment curve.
Leveraging on FOX International Channels’ established relationships with Hollywood movie studios such as 20th Century Fox, FOX Movies Premium will offer viewers the best of Hollywood and more with first and exclusive content and the biggest hits. Viewers will not only get all the Hollywood blockbusters they love but they will also benefit from the channel’s new line-up of original drama series, live events, concerts and award-winning documentaries.

FOX Movies Premium and FOX Movies Premium HD will kick off its 2012 line up with the latest Hollywood hits including the premiere of Tron: Legacy, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, The Switch, Gulliver’s Travels, and original drama series like The Walking Dead. Viewers will also get to indulge in their love for music as FOX Movies Premium and FOX Movies Premium HD will be saluting the King of Pop, the late Michael Jackson in February with the star-studded Michael Forever tribute concert.
To bring movie fans closer to their favourite Hollywood stars, FOX Movies Premium and FOX Movies Premium HD will also broadcast every major film awards ceremony of 2012 LIVE and EXCLUSIVE as part of its special events offering. The awards season will kick-off with the 69th Annual Golden Globe® Awards featuring Ricky Gervais who returns as host on 16 January 2012, the 18th Screen Actors Guild Awards® on 30 January 2012. The awards fever will continue with the Orange British Academy Film Awards® on 13 February 2012 and the 84th Annual Academy Awards® on 27 February 2012.
With blockbuster premieres, exclusive content and new features such as high-definition viewing, and Dolby 5.1-channel surround sound, FOX Movies Premium and FOX Movies Premium HD are not only changing the way movie lovers will be entertained in Malaysia, but is taking the whole viewing experience to the next level.
FOX Movies Premium and FOX Movies Premium HD will start airing from 1.00 am on 1 January 2012, where viewers of STAR Movies and STAR Movies HD will experience a seamless transition on-air, ushering the New Year with the premiere of the new sci-fi movie Tron: Legacy on FOX Movies Premium (Ch 413) and FOX Movies Premium HD (Ch 433) on Astro respectively.
