Lawyer Lawyer (April 6)
Stephen Chow is Chan Mong Gut, an ace Chinese lawyer and merciless trickster, who faces his biggest challenge when he has to leave China to defend a murder case in British-occupied Hong Kong. Making matters worse is the fact that the defendant is his former assistant Foon (Eric Kot), who went to Hong Kong after a dispute with Chan Mong Gut over the pretty Lotus (Chingmy Yau). Chan Mong Gut may not completely understand the confusing laws of the British court, but thanks to his quick mind and even quicker wit, he’s willing to take on whatever the stodgy Brits plan on throwing at him. Co-starring frequent Stephen Chow collaborator Karen Mok as Chan Mong Gut’s stubborn wife.

Along with the village’s sage Buddhist priest (Teerayuth Pratyabamrung), Chan inspires the villagers to new heights of courage. In between bouts of bloodshed there are some subplots. One concerns the wife (Bongkod Kongmalia) of one of the mightiest fighters, Nai In (Winai Kraibutr). She learns that she’s pregnant, and fears that her husband will lose his fighting spirit if he finds out. In another, a young warrior named Muang (Atthakorn Suwannaraj) fights to impress the chief’s warrior daughter (Soontree Maila-or).
