The atmosphere was electric when thousands of Marvel fans assembled in full force to catch the cast and directors of Marvel Studios’ much anticipated movie, Captain Marvel, at a ground-breaking Fan Event held at the iconic Marina Bay Sands this evening.

Actors Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), and Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), along with the film’s directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck were given a rousing welcome by the fans at the award-winning Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
From start to finish, the stars aligned for a show-stopping performance complete with state-of-the-art video mapping technology and audio effects that allowed fans to feel immersed in this latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
As a film that sets many firsts – Marvel’s first female-led film and first female-directed Marvel movie – the narrative at the Fan Event included a segment that celebrated the accomplishments and careers of several Singapore-based women who are prominent in their fields of work. They included Paralympic gold medallist Yip Pin Xiu, professional wakeboarder Sasha Christian, Muay Thai and kickboxing champion Nabilah Razak, world champion indoor skydiver Kyra Poh, artist and animal rights activist Melissa Tan, A*Star research analyst Swanti Sinha, Genome Institute scientist Li Jingmei, and race-car driver Claire Jedrek.
Also honoured that evening were 10 beneficiaries from AWWA, a non-profit organisation supported by Marina Bay Sands’ CSR programme, Sands for Singapore. The 10 youth, aged between 7 and 21, were inducted as agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and awarded agent certificates by none other than Samuel L. Jackson, who plays an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D in the movie.
The agent certificates were prepared earlier this morning by Samuel L. Jackson, along with Marina Bay Sands’ President and Chief Executive Officer George Tanasijevich and Tom Batchelor, Vice President of Studio, Live Entertainment and Music, The Walt Disney Company South Asia.
“Marvel Studios continues to delight fans with epic stories every year. Disney Southeast Asia is thrilled to bring unique and immersive experiences to Marvel fans in the region. Tonight’s Captain Marvel event brought fans across Asia even closer to their favorite talent”said Tom Batchelor, Vice President of Studio, Live Entertainment and Music at The Walt Disney Company South Asia.
Marina Bay Sands’ President and Chief Executive Officer George Tanasijevich said: “We enjoy co-producing events that support our mission to bring global entertainment to Singapore, establishing it as a creative hub. To echo the tagline from Captain Marvel – Higher. Further. Faster. That’s exactly what we all achieved together with this Fan Event tonight.”
