Samsung Rewards Creativity, Creatively
Kuala Lumpur, 22 February 2013 – Samsung recently concluded its Be Creative contest, by hosting the winners to an exclusive lunch with their favourite personalities.
Inspired by Samsung’s GALAXY Note II, a device developed to unleash everyday creativity in users, the online contest featured four well-known personalities who teased participants with a challenge – complete a design the celebrities started. Participants used tools that mirrored the content creating capabilities of the GALAXY Note II to create these unique interpretations:
Razif Hashim
The actor and star of Best in the World, the food interest programme on 8TV, asked his fans to deliver the most creative finishing touches to his dining set. Razif selected the entry of Yee Eve Lynn, a graphic design student from KBU College. Yee won a dinner for two at Razif’s favourite restaurant, Prime at Le Méridien, Kuala Lumpur.
Adam Carruthers
Adam, the TV host renowned for hosting football and technology programmes, tasked his fans with completing his design of a football jersey. Eide Omar, a visual effects designer came up with Adam’s favourite design and won a football jersey customised with his own design.
Sharifah Amani
The popular Malaysian actress who made a name for herself in her breakout role in Yasmin Ahmad’s award-winning film, Sepet, required her fans to complete her design of a popcorn box. The most eye-popping illustration went to Amiza Mohamed Noor, a Master’s student from Universiti Malaya.
Ernest Zacharevic
The artist famed for his murals around Penang Island required people to fill his empty canvas with the most creative masterpiece. Pamela Lim’s floral design caught Ernest’s eye and she will soon receive a signed print from the Lithuanian artist himself.
Not only did the winners get to meet their favourite personalities in the special prize-giving ceremony, but they also got to have lunch with them. “I thought Sharifah’s invitation on the Becreative.my site was really cute, so I decided to join it just for fun. Though I really don’t think of myself as a creative person, I made it a point to do my best. That’s why I’m really happy to be recognised for my creativity! I also loved hanging out with Sharifah and the other celebrities!” said Amiza Mohamed Noor, the winner of Sharifah’s popcorn box design challenge.
