This season, Australian surf wear and lifestyle brand Rip Curl takes inspiration from various cultures and sub-cultures to offer a bright and trendy collection for both men and women.
The themes for Rip Curl’s menswear SS14 revolve around the surfing culture and youth lifestyle. The t-shirts, made of 100% cotton, show beach-inspired prints ranging from palm trees to faded Hawaiian floral. You can also opt for minimalistic basics that come in mono or bi-coloured logo tees and possess contrast chambray pockets.
These slim fit casual men’s tops offer a more flattering silhouette, as well as a modern neck cutting. Rip Curl’s men’s short sleeved buttoned down shirts have playful retro prints that can be worn by the creative man for both work and play. For a more semi-formal occasion, you can opt for the long sleeved shirts that come in neutral, light tones, like white, grey and sky blue.

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]or beach lovers, swimmers and surfers, this season releases new Rip Curl boardshorts designs in different lengths, from 18 inches to 21 inches, in seasonal colours of blue to sunset orange.
[pullquote]For the ladies, Rip Curl goes back to the grunge days of the early 90s with its graphic tees and simple bold statements. The girls get to enjoy a wide range of tops to choose from for Spring/Summer: for the bold ones, there are cotton tees with colourful, playful prints and bohemian tops with rolled cuffs; the slightly daring ones can go for peek-a-boo tops with laser cut details on the front and back, or choose our sweater and cardigan range for days when you just want to keep a low-profile style.

About Rip Curl
From an old house in Torquay, Australia to stores in the USA, France, South Africa, Argentina, Indonesia, Malaysia, and more.
Rip Curl was established in 1969 in the seaside town of Torquay, that lies just a couple of kilometres away from Bells Beach, a spot famous among surfers for its challenging waves. Founders Doug ‘Claw’ Warbrick and Brian ‘Sing Ding’ Singer first started off selling surfboards, but upon realising that an essential need for fellow surfers was missing in the market, they ventured into making wetsuits to keep out the cold when surfing in Australia’s icy waters.
Fast forward a few decades later, Rip Curl is now a leading company for not only surfwear, but also for mountainwear for skiers and snowboarders, beachwear, and accessories. The brand prides itself in providing high quality products to surf and snow athletes and also to its fashion lifestyle consumers all around the globe.
What’s in a name?
Claw and Brian were throwing names back and forth, and decided on Rip Curl, ‘ripping’ being a hard core Aussie surf language of that time. This name became a synonym of surfing, founded by surfers, for surfers and beach lovers.
