RECYCLE YOUR PHONES, SAVE THE TURTLES
Recycle your phone, save the marine turtles, and save the environment. Students of Tunku Abdul Rahman College will once again collaborate with Nokia South East Asia Pacific Sustainability Division in a joint effort to help save the endangered marine turtles from extinction by funding a non-governmental organisation through a mobile phone recycling campaign at TAR College on the 9th to 11th July 2012.
The main objective of ‘1 Phone. 1 Life. 1 Earth’ campaign is to educate the importance of mobile phone recycling. There will be exhibitions held during the campaign period and it will feature a 3D model on mobile phone recycling process as all the materials in a mobile phone can be recovered and used to generate energy or to make new products such as park benches, gold rings, and musical instruments.
“Students always strive to create meaningful events so that everyone can benefit from it and this campaign is no exception. We hope for the public’s support in this initiative as every bit of help will be truly appreciated,” expressed Mr. Lee Hwee Chuin, Head of School of Social Science and Humanities, Tunku Abdul Rahman College.
Those interested can join the campaign at Canteen 2 Foyer of TAR College on the 9th to 11th July 2012 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will also be a mobile phone collection booth, where phones can be dropped off for recycling.
