YODA’s designers rocking 2010 MIFW stage

In the spirit of promoting fresh new talent and designs to our fashion industry, the Young Designers Arena (YODA) in collaboration with Malaysian International Fashion Association showcasing 12 young Malaysian designers to showcase their collections in 2010 Malaysian International Fashion Week (MIFW) which held on 5th November 2010 at the Pavillion Kuala Lumpur.

The young designers who will showcase their collection in the event are:

1. Safura Azali; showcasing Senhora Sapphire, a mysterious yet charismatic lady of elegance and character .
2. Merlee Shariff; puts the touch of couture and glamour to the “ 1 MALAYSIA” ideology, Inspired by the traditional art of weaving with beadings to match.
3. Raymond Goh; seeks inspiration from the 30’s era; La Belle (the Beautiful one) resembles beauty and glamour of a women.
4. Fizi Woo; is much inspired by albino alligator, an experimental theme of animal texture and form. Embracing the quality of line and form of the garment.
5. Junita Sha’ari & Fadli; with the concept of change over time and the philosophy of maintaining a heritage, Abaya inspiration was chosen to uphold the traditions, with a new twist to accommodate to today’s standard.

Like every other YODA’s fashion show, YODA will introduce the “faces of YODA” and this time we will feature 6 young designers who has made their mark in our fashion industry and they are

1. O’oi Couture; matching fabric in harmonies of black and red in versatility; satisfying the needs of fashion forward men towards the clothing line anatomy.
2. Arefen Zaidin; is most inspired by the environment and architectural design. Structured with modesty in shape and form using element from inspirational subject matter. Simple clean cut yet elegant and sophisticated.
3. Jye’ik Couture; FLAMBRIGETTE Sophistication, curiosity, dazzling, swanky elegance to satisfy the fashion hungry crowd.
4. John Paris; is all about variety of vibrant colors, modern, classy yet elegant that suite the fashion needs.
5. Alex Yap; style varies from time, this time he’s very much inspired by the fantasy world girly icons and nature.
6. Khalik Mustafa; designs is inspired by the legend of Cik Siti Wan Kembang manipulating the draping and tie technique using material from Songket best representing the beauty of Malay culture.

The show will also feature designs by students from the Fashion Faculty, Community College. The overall collection will embrace the essence of the young designer’s perspective of the fashion industry and the vision of the designers that they have to offer to the industry.

In the spirit of ASEAN, during this year’s MIFW, YODA will introduce a very talented designer from Indonesia, we hope by having a designer from our neighbouring country, our designer will get a new perspective and can be inspired by ideas from abroad.

The named designer has showcased many of his collections in many Indonesian fashion shows and his label has dress many of Indonesian celebrities. Inspired by the evenings atmosphere in Batakan’s shores and skyline, a beach situated in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan Indonesia.

In order to make this event a succesfull one, YODA has been getting support by our official magazine REMAJA from the very beginning; Neo Media For the wonderful montage video, Dolce Pattini is a new edition to our partnership as official shoe sponsor.

During the showcase YODA will also be organizing a “Celebrity Fashion Brunch”. 20 of Malaysia’s young and most talented celebrities will also be attending the event in support of the young designers.

Celebrities will be attended to their every need during the show, Make up by MAC, hairdo by MIKO Hair Studio and dressed in our own designer’s clothing. In addition to the festive atmosphere, we have a guest performance by Kraft, a young talented Malaysian singer, performance by Ms Aishah a violinist from ASWARA and exciting dance performance by the Freak Show Crew. Young Designer’s Arena is sure to rock the 2010 MIFW stage. See you there and let the show begin.
