Perseverance and patience paid off for Mohd Syairazi Mohd Zikri, 26 as he beat out 80 other finalists on 25th of May in 7 different elimination rounds. For this multimedia designer winning the Honda CR-Z worth RM123,000 with Red FM’s Dude Where’s My Car was a very lucky day. “I have no words to describe how I feel, I’m still in shock!”
Although he initially missed out the opportunity to be in the running to win the car, he reregistered for the competition and kept listening to his favourite radio station. “I listen to Red FM every day and when I heard of Red FM’s Dude Where’s My Car I knew I had to take part in this competition. Due to my responsibilities of caring for my dad who is ill, I have a long drive from my home in KL to my office in Putrajaya. But thanks to Red FM, I now have a sports car to make that daily journey easier! “
The first round of eliminations kicked off at 12pm in Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang with finalists going into a frantic frenzy. The whole area was turned upside down with 80 finalists looking for hidden cards that got them through to the next round. An intrigued crowd gathered to find out why chairs were being stripped and turned upside down. Listeners unable to make it to Empire Shopping Gallery were able to share in the excitement as the event was broadcasted live on air.
The other challenges included braving black boxes filled with worms and frogs to pick out a red ball, getting the highest scores in reaction game Bop-It and completing a puzzle game in the shortest time frame. In the end it came down to Syairazi and two other finalists picking out the winning CD.
Everyone in attendance including the Red FM announcers shared in Syairazi’s excitement when the CD he selected played the message indicating he was the dude who had won the Honda CR-Z. Deputy Group Chief Broadcasting officer of The Star Radio Group Kudsia Kahar said, “We enjoy rewarding loyal listeners but it’s not every day we give out a car. I am happy to see a listener like Syairazi take home this awesome prize!”
