MTV is set to premiere a brand new documentary, You and Me vs. the World, which follows two sets of young people on opposite sides of the world as they face the realities and the aftermath of severe humanitarian and natural disasters. You and Me vs. the World was produced in partnership with International Medical Corps UK, the European Commission and will air on MTV on Thursday, 15 January 2015 at 7.30pm (WIB), 8.30pm (PH/SG) and 9.30pm (MY). The show repeats on Saturday, 17 January 2015 at 1pm (WIB), 2pm (PH/SG) and 3pm (MY).
Both harrowing and moving in its depiction of life in the aftermath of life-altering devastation, You and Me vs. the World focuses on the strength of the next generation. The powerful documentary special sees brother and sister duo Nico and Van recount their experience of saving each other’s lives after Super Typhoon Haiyan swept through and destroyed their island home of Tacloban in the Philippines. You and Me vs. the World also visits best friends Manar and Asem in Jordan, after they fled from neighbouring Syria to escape from civil war.
“You and Me vs. the World was created to spotlight the younger generation’s optimism, resilience and determination in the face of even the most tragic of circumstances,” said Georgia Arnold, Senior Vice President, Social Responsibility, Viacom International Media Networks. “Our thoughts are with everyone around the world who has been impacted by humanitarian and natural disasters, including those most recently affected by Typhoon Hagupit.”
You and Me vs. the World was produced as part of the First Responders campaign, a collaboration between International Medical Corps UK and the European Commission to raise awareness and understanding around the extraordinary actions of ordinary people during times of crisis.
