With 2014 coming to an end, MTV invites you to reflect and reminisce about some of the things that impacted our personal lives and the lives of people across the globe.
Apart from sharing more and more SELFIES on Facebook and mostly Instagram, we’ve also learnt to share the good things in life. Yes! I’m talking about the WEFIES.
But that is not all, the DIY dance videos to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,†the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, #OOTD, #TBT, #throwback and a string of numerous trends were continuously spotted throughout this year storming social media. And then, there were things that bound us together and even aided in building perspectives on certain issues for some of us.
So, here is an opportunity to share and voice out what personally left an impact on you this year.
MTV is running a campaign called Things That Matter 2014 (TTM) comprising a list of topics that made the news in 2014. MTV constantly empowers and encourages a sense of individualism amongst its audience by championing the issues that matter to them. It has launched Things That Matter 2014 (TTM), the very first pan-regional list at www.mtvasia.com/ttm that looks back on the year’s pop culture trends, digital advances, major events or social movements which transcended geographical and cultural barriers to influence and impact young people’s values and lifestyles.
To kick start public votes and conversations, MTV has invited their celebrity friends such as SonaOne, Joe Flizzow, and other personalities like MTV’s VJ Alan to share the things that resonated with them at the Star Buzz page. The initial list consists of an array of trending topics that fueled this year’s conversations including hashtags, Pharrell Williams’ â€Happy,†2014 FIFA World Cup, “#OOTD†and…well, you get the picture. If you’re wondering what else is making the list, check out the site at www.mtvasia.com/ttm to vote for the things that mattered to YOU.
The millennial population stands at 2.5 billion worldwide. Viacom International Media Networks, home to the biggest and boldest youth brand, MTV had set out previously to create a definitive guide to this generation’s distinctive attitudes, behaviours and aspirations via its The Next Normal study.
The MTV TTM 2014 initiative aspires to gather insights from millennials around Asia on things that spoke to them over the span of 2014. The campaign went live on 8 December will last till 4 January 2015 and the results thereafter will reflect the top 10 things that mattered to youths.
What makes it more interesting is that, aside from the topics in the list, voters are also allowed to add on and vote for topics that personally mattered to them this year on the Submit My TTM page.
