U Mobile clinches the coveted Frost & Sullivan “Most Promising Service Provider of the Year” award
The celebratory mood continues at U Mobile Sdn Bhd with Malaysia’s most dynamic and innovative telco bestowed Frost & Sullivan’s ‘Most Promising Service Provider of the Year’ award at the 2012 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Excellence Award ceremony held last night.
Cheers and applause defined the moment when U Mobile was announced the winner of the category during the ceremony held at Doubletree by Hilton. The award was presented by Mr. Manoj Menon, Partner & Asia Pacific Managing Director of Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific to Dr. Kaizad Heerjee, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of U Mobile.
U Mobile joins the ranks of other outstanding players in the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) industry, whose achievements earned them the prestigious recognition from Frost & Sullivan, one of the world’s leading market research firms. U Mobile’s clear leadership is demonstrated through its outstanding subscriber growth rate and disruptive service innovation which has outranked other contenders in the field.
It was also U Mobile’s bold business and marketing strategies manifested in a string of many “firsts in the market” that won it the title of Most Promising Service Provider of the year. U Mobile aced its performance in 2011 through its well-defined three-pronged strategy – expanding network infrastructure, strengthening its brand through innovative product offerings and widening distribution channels. This business strategy also helped U Mobile carve a milestone achievement in August 2011 when it reached one million subscribers with an increase of 900% within 1 year.
“I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our customers, dealers and vendors who have shown unremitting support to U Mobile, which helped us garner this prestigious award. It is indeed an honour to be recognised by industry experts and it has certainly motivated us to continue to be bold and dynamic with our product offerings and business operations,” said Dr. Kaizad.
“The win is also a credit to our U Mobile team members, whose dedication and commitment to the company helped establish U Mobile as a reputable entity and a force to be reckoned within the industry,” he added.
The company took the broadband market by storm when it first introduced its 42mbps mobile broadband service in September 2011. U Mobile also innovates with its prepaid services by offering nationwide on-net free calls, free SMSs, unlimited mobile internet and zero roaming charges in Singapore. Its postpaid package too is a unique gem in the market – combining voice, SMS and data plans in a single package, which was widely recognized as the best value postpaid package in the market.
U Mobile has also demonstrated its innovation and thought leadership via its unique network sharing strategies through collaborative efforts with other industry partners, providing its customers nationwide coverage. This is evident through the company’s 3G Radio Access Network (RAN) sharing pact with Maxis Berhad, which was the first active partnership of this nature in Asia.
In enabling customers to enjoy greater accessibility to U Mobile products, the telco proactively broadens its distribution network and channels, bringing U Mobile products and services closer to the public. Apart from U Mobile direct service centres, U Mobile products are also available at all Cosway, 7-Eleven, and Singer outlets nationwide, at hypermarket chains such as Giant, Tesco and Carrefour and even at independent convenient stores located in residential areas.
The recognition comes fresh on the heels of the company’s award from PC.com. U Mobile received the “Rising Star” of the year award in the magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards 2011 for its outstanding market performance, subscriber growth and unique product & service offerings in 2011.
