Mizz Nina and Jay Park sizzle on new single ‘Around The World’
2013 brings much promise for pop sensation Mizz Nina as she kicks off the year with a collaboration with American-Korean artist Jay Park on the electrifying new single, ‘Around The World’.
The much-loved Malaysian pop star has added more notches to her belt since making 2010 her launch pad to a sensational solo singing career with her debut album What You Waiting For, led by the hit single of the same name with LA-based artist-producer Colby O’Donis. 2012 saw her prolonging her pop music domination with the release of her sophomore album Takeover, featuring the infectious title track with global hip hop star Flo Rida.
Collaborations with internationally acclaimed talents have always proved to be a winning formula for Mizz Nina and this time, she’s set to shine even more with this unique collaboration with K-pop’s consummate entertainer and fan favourite Jay Park. The multitalented singer, songwriter, rapper, music producer, dancer, b-boy, choreographer, actor, model and former leader of Korean boyband 2PM was a natural choice for this new project following a fruitful encounter at MTV World Stage Live In Malaysia 2012. The pair then proceeded to record in separate studios from December 2012 and thereafter in January 2013, Mizz Nina travelled to Seoul to complete the music video directed by Namil Cho–who previously worked on Mizz Nina’s first music video ‘Sometimes’ as well as South East Asian supergroup Project E.A.R.’s ‘Marabahaya’ and all the music videos for Thai-American hip hop trio Thaitanium.
‘Around The World’ embodies a universal sound and catchy arrangement, which provide the perfect balance for these two charismatic artists as they merge their individual energies to create an explosive sound. The single was produced by Seattle-born singer, music producer, b-boy and illustrator Cha Cha Malone, who was first introduced to Asian audiences in 2010 via his work on Jay Park tracks ‘Bestie’ and ‘Speechless’. Since then, Malone has continued to compose for Park on the latter’s albums Take A Deeper Look and New Breed, both of which have reached notable positions on the Billboard charts and iTunes Korea. He has also produced for South Korean acts like B1A4, Brian Joo, U-Kiss and Tiny-G.
Suffice to say, Mizz Nina and Jay Park are pleased with the results. “It was such a pleasure working with Mizz Nina. The song ‘Around The World’ produced by my homie Cha Cha Malone came out really well!” admits Jay Park, before adding, “ATW 2013, turn it up!!” Mizz Nina is also thankful for the hook-up. “It was a blessing to be able to work with Jay Park on this collaboration, and to also have one of my all-time favourite directors Namil Cho work on the video is a huge bonus!” she says. “To top it all off, we filmed it in Seoul, Korea, which was a dream come true. I am super-excited for this single and video!”
