MEDIA PRIMA’S KEY EVENTS SHORTLISTED AT REGIONAL AWARDS
Malaysia’s leading Integrated Media Group’s key TV events and campaigns notch multiple nominations at Marketing Events Awards 2012
Media Prima Berhad (“Media Primaâ€), Malaysia’s largest integrated media group, is proud to announce that its key events and campaigns have been shortlisted for the upcoming Marketing Events Awards 2012 which will be held at Shangri-la Hotel, Singapore on 22 November 2012.
Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 2011 (“ABPBH2011â€) raked in THREE nominations for the categories: Best Multi-Channel Campaign, Best Online Driver, Best Event for Press / Event and Best Use of Social Media. ABPBH2011 elevated the campaign to a whole new level by providing exciting new original content on the website at www.abpbh.com.my (developed and managed by NSTP e-Media Sdn Bhd, digital arm of New Straits Times Press) to commemorate the awards’ 25th year anniversary.
The live coverage by social media and engagement resulted in over 2.5 million page views – almost 600 per cent increase from the previous year. Online polls that were introduced generated more than half a million votes. The live broadcast on TV3 and live streaming online were very well-received by the public, serving over 7 million viewers during the night of the event itself.
“At Berita Harian, we are honoured to be chosen as one of the finalists for the inaugural Marketing & Events Awards for four categories. ABPBH is an entertainment award show dedicated to actors, actresses, singers, comedians, entertainers and all stars in the entertainment industry. Award winners are determined by votes from the public and readers of Berita Harian.
It is also the country’s longest running people’s choice awards show. We are very proud of these nominations as it is a recognition of how far we have come in terms of building the brand using integrated media platforms across Media Prima so that we are able to reach our consumers anywhere, anytime and through any of their preferred devicesâ€, said Putri Shireen Syed Othman, General Manager, Marketing, the New Straits Times Press.
TV3’s Anugerah Skrin 2011 (“ASK2011â€) and Anugerah Juara Lagu 26 (“AJL26â€) as well as 8TV’s Showdown 2012, secured nominations for the Best Online Driver category. All three programmes’ online campaigns (developed and managed by Alt Media, Media Prima’s digital media subsidiary) pushed the boundaries with a variety of engagement and content, not just for the fans but also for the clients.
In Twitterverse, ‘hashtags’ for all three shows trended at No. 1 or 2 during the night of the event. 2011 was the first year, during which, ASK incorporated the use of ‘hashtag’ (#ask2011) for its online campaign. A continuous engagement with the audience via extensive social media activities, which enabled interactions amongst fans regardless of place and time, proved to be successful marketing tools.
‘Showdown’ has a following of over 260,000 fans on Facebook and this year, Alt Media made a debut of its online application known as “Companion App†which enables online to TV, called “ONLINE JUDGE†which provided fans with the opportunity to rate the dance crews’ performances. Results were then be shown live on-air.
Overall, there has been a significant growth to the online numbers for all three shows. Anugerah Juara Lagu 26’s total viewership on TV and online platform registered record breaking 6.5million viewers during the finale.
Integrated Marketing (I.M), a new division under Media Prima, garnered TWO (2) nominations for the integrated campaign, 1 Song 2 Countries, 1 Night 4 Cities.
The categories are Best Home-Grown Event and Best Multi-Channel Campaign. This campaign showcased a complete integration of Media Prima’s media platforms – print, TV, radio, outdoor and digital.
“The nominations and making it to the finals are indeed great milestones for both the Digital and Integrated Marketing divisions of Media Prima. Although considered relatively new to the group and the industry, we are already gaining recognition not only locally but also internationally,†said Lam Swee Kim, Group General Manager, New Media and Integrated Marketing, Media Prima Berhad.
