MAXIS SENDS A MALAYSIAN FASHIONISTA TO PARIS
Maxis customer and online contest winner to experience all the stylish sights of the fashion capital
On 2 March, fashionable Maxis customer Fatin Feisal flies to Paris as grand prize winner of the MIFA Paris contest, held in conjunction with Maxis’ presentation of M-IFW’10, the annual fashion awards organised by the Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (‘mifa’). The lawyer and frequent blogger was voted into her holiday in the style capital after posting a photographic self-portrait taken at a Maxis Centre, onto the contest’s Facebook page. While in Paris, Fatin will witness Malaysian beauty icon Deborah Henry’s cover shoot for GLAM magazine, taking place at the House of Louis Vuitton.
Said Maxis’ Vice President and Head of Product, Devices and Innovation, T Kugan, “Maxis is committed to giving customers what they dream of, and to making it easier for customers to stay connected to what matters to them. Through integrated channels, strategic partnerships, a robust network and latest communications technology, we continue to deliver enriching ways to live, work and play, giving you ways to pursue your keenest interests.”
“We know that our customers love to experience fashion and talk about style on the online platform. As leaders in the development and delivery of content and services we will continue to drive fashion on the digital platform to feed the demands of style consumers, and of the majority of our customers who are constantly surfing and sharing online. We are pleased to give Malaysians the best fashion content both local and international from multiple devices; and we are proud to be sending one of our most stylish customers to Paris for an experience she’d be proud to blog about.”
Another Maxis commitment to the fashion experience, is the new fashionista.my, fashion trade portal to showcase Malaysian fashion design to international buyers. It also provides style devotees all over the world with a single destination at which to browse the latest collections from mifa-verified Malaysian designers both established and emerging.
Said mifa’s Chief Executive Officer Syeba Yip, “Fashionista.my has facilitated many business opportunities for Malaysian designers in the area of international fashion trade. Designers such as Sasha Rowena, Gallo, Michael Ong, and from YODA (Young Designers’ Arena) have negotiated successfully with overseas buyers, with a majority of the latter proceeding to place orders with the designers. The designers are very pleased with the ease and convenience that fashionista.my has provided and will continue to upload their latest collections onto the portal.”
Upon being asked what she will enjoy most about being in Paris, contest winner Fatin Feisal said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, “Just being in Paris! Plus the desserts will be absolutely divine.” On keeping up with latest fashion news, Fatin cites “…the miracles of surfing online, the wondrous sites of all things fashion are at my fingertips. Everything that’s ‘in’ can now be found at a click.”
Her sentiments were also reflected by the five consolation prize winners who had Facebook-posted their highly individualistic interpretations of Parisian style, captured at the dedicated photo walls placed in Maxis Centres in KLCC and Pavilion KL. Although each had a different way to express Parisian flair: Eeman Teoh, Justin Gan, Jeannie Chan, Eddie Courtney Chan and Siti Hajar Shafie all concurred that the digital revolution will be responsible for a fashion revolution – with 18-year-old Eddie going so far as to say that it already has, with “more and more people going online for fashion updates because it’s instant and doesn’t require spending more”.
The winners were chosen for their creatively Parisian style expression by a panel of fashion industry judges including style icon Kavitha Sidhu. Each consolation prize winner takes home a style hamper which includes a Hotlink SIM pack with RM100 top-up; MAC cosmetics and Tiffany & Co merchandise. Grand prize winner Fatin flies off to Paris adorned with additional prizes of a ‘Muse 2’ YSL bag and RM500 of MAC cosmetics. She’ll be able to relive the entire one-off experience in April, when the cover shoot she witnesses appears in GLAM.
Going forward, Maxis customers will enjoy even more stylish immersion in today’s best fashion experiences.
