Luigi Bajona is a classical piano trained (conservatoire Serge Rachmaninoff – Paris), radio and club DJ for over a decade, shows and events organizer, International Music Manager and Executive Producer.
Ning in Europe History:
This press release highlights Luigi’s titanic mission making this experience available to anyone interested. Promoting an artiste from Asia to the international markets it has been an epic quest! In fact, no matter how famous the artiste is in her own country of origin, she will be largely unknown and unnoticed in the rest of the world!
September 2002: Luigi was in Kuala Lumpur and one Sunday night he stopped at Planet Hollywood. After a drink he was planning to go back to his hotel but the bar tender suggested to stay on suggesting: “there is a show of a very good band in a few minutes”. Luigi was not in the mood to listen to a club band, but the bar tender insisted “It is worth it, anyway it is up to you…”
So Luigi stayed and NING and her band, then, performed live. Luigi did not know anything about her but he immediately loved the live stage performance and her voice. He approached one of the members of the band and asked if they were interested to exhibit in Europe. It was difficult to contact NING’s team after that night (the email received was not working and no contact number was available). Finally, at the end of 2002, with the help of a fan club, Luigi found a phone number.
2003: after several meetings in Malaysia, Luigi started to work on the ambitious project he had the vision: Ning in Europe.
2004: Luigi made the participation of NING as a special guest at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo possible. Luigi and his brother Stefano introduced NING to H.S.H. the Prince Albert of Monaco and they arranged an extraordinary invitation at the gala hosted at the prestigious Hotel de Paris. She performed live for the Prince and for FIFA’s President Joseph Blatter. This event received tremendous attention from the press in Malaysia raising NING’s profile locally and internationally.
2005: Luigi continued the promotion of the artiste abroad, especially in Europe. He organized a very successful Ning in Italy Summer Tour. Over 20 shows in the most prestigious clubs and venues all over Italy including: Jazz and More Festival in Viareggio, Twiga Club in Forte dei Marmi, Country Club in Porto Rotondo, Miss Muretto show on Italia1 TV, Radio Montecarlo concert in Sicily, etc. The tour received ample and exceptional media coverage.
During the one-month long tour NING nicknamed Luigi as PAPA GG! They also agreed that a newflavored album should be released to have a wider chance of success in Europe, and because of this, in December 2005, an exclusive music production agreement was signed.
2006: The promotion continued and the first English album idea was conceived during the summer when DJ Morano’s London based production team joined Luigi’s enthusiastic project. The A&R research has been extensive and multi-layered; they were looking at a European, original and fresh sound matching NING’s great personality and voice. The first idea of class-tronick (an infusion of pop-electronic and classical) was invented. In November, three demo songs were recorded and produced for a tough test during the worldwide music industry show.
2007: In January, NING performed in Switzerland at the World Economic Forum. In May, she flew to London to record at Jamestown studios for over 2 weeks. At the same time Luigi’s exclusive management contract with her has been renewed for a longer period and for a wider territories extension. Luigi was able to convince his friend Maestro Andrea Griminelli (n.1 flute player in the world with Pavarotti, Sting, etc.) to contribute with his delicate featuring in one of the songs of the album at last titled EastToWest. This title was sought by Luigi to be a symbol of the great efforts spent to promote NING from the East to the West, The rest of the year has been a hard work on production, mixing and finalizing the fine points.
The album license has been then offered to many labels in Malaysia, Asia and around the World. EQ MUSIC from Singapore/Malaysia has been the first company to confirm its interest. Negotiations around the globe are ongoing these days. In the last few years, Luigi knocked at thousands of doors in Malaysia seeking for co-operation from all level of business for sponsorship of the tours in Europe (Tourism Malaysia and dozens of other companies) or from the top level recording industry (major labels, for instance). Each time he got a cold shoulder… everyone was guessing he will not make it …!!! In fact, no one joined the efforts and no one invested in his dream vision.
Luigi and a few very close friends have spent an enormous amount of time in the promotion and marketing of the artiste NING. Luigi, as executive producer, has solely invested a large amount of money to cover the costs of promotion, traveling, touring and recording.
Luigi participated at 3 editions of MIDEM (worldwide music trade show) to promote NING and the new album to hundreds of top international music industry professionals.With an honest character, a strong personality, a pure passion for music and a strong belief in NING as artiste, Luigi has achieved results no matter how many obstacles he has faced. These facts should have persuaded even the most skeptical and, one-day, gratefulness will triumph!
First Time in History… thanks to Luigi:
- First Time in History that a Malaysian singer has performed live at the prestigious Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo for H.S.H. the Prince Albert of Monaco.
- First Time in history that Malaysian songs have been broadcasted from network radios in Italy and France (Radio Montecarlo).
- First Time in History that a Malaysian singer has toured Italy exhibiting in the most prestigious locations, performing live on Italian Television Networks (LA7 and ITALIA1) and releasing live interviews on radios and TVs.
- First Time in the History that an international album (EastToWest) will be released in Malaysia/Singapore before any other country in the World.
