Regarded as one the biggest Latino superstars in the American entertainment scene, Pitbull, born Armando Christian Pérez, has left a trail of hit singles in his wake and he is still going strong with his fifth album Planet Pit, released earlier this year. Some of his songs like I Know You Want Me, Give Me Everything, Hey Baby and I Like It have been instant hits and hot favourites on the party scene.
He is often called Mr Worldwide. Known for his collaborations with Jennifer Lopez (On the Floor), Ne-Yo (Give Me Everything ), Enrique Iglesias (I Like It) and Usher (“DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love”), he is also one artist who has managed to balance hip hop talent and pop success.
Pitbull has made major moves throughout his seven-year career. Getting his start under the tutelage of Luther Campbell (a.k.a. Luke) and influenced by Miami booty bass, Pitbull got his big break in 2004 with the Lil Jon-assisted single “Culo.” But while his musical origins may have been rooted in bass music and the crunk movement of the early-2000s
His first album, M.I.A.M.I. (Money is a Major Issue), was dedicated to his hometown and exemplified his local accessibility but his latest, Planet Pit, exemplifies his worldwide reach. Pitbull has seen his career rise from album to album. He made a significant chart breakthrough with albums like Rebelution (2009) and the Spanish language Armando (2010) which put him on the global map. Pitbull has grown into a rapper with mass appeal.
His music is synonymous with the radio and clubbing scene with singles like I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho), Blanco, Hotel Room Service, Shut It Down, Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor), Give Me Everything and Rain Over Me all making an impact.
Planet Pit has already given Pit his first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Give Me Everything.” The album’s sound isn’t rooted in the block, as were earlier songs like “Rain Over Me” featuring salsa great Marc Anthony and the Chris Brown-laced “International Love.” His latest aims to break global boundaries.
The rapper, first visit to Malaysia was an invite-only show in Kuala Lumpur last May, is ready for the his first major Concert as he returns to Malaysia with his album Planet Pit already a massive smash hit all over the world.
