The Japanese Film Festival 2019 officially launched with the South East Asian premiere of “Little Nights, Little Love” by director IMAIZUMI Rikiya. The Opening Ceremony held at GSC Pavilion KL was attended by some 250 guests with YBrs. Dr. Tan Awang Besar, Undersecretary of the Cultural Policy Division, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture delivering the officiating speech.

“This year, we are bringing you a line-up consisting of 13 titles with different genres that is ready to captivate the audiences of all ages, and also for those who are new to the Japanese film,”

“2019 is a very special year for JFKL as we celebrate our 30th anniversary in Malaysia since our establishment in 1989. This year, JFF plays the major role for our 30th anniversary celebration,” he further adds.
“While 2018 marked the 15th year milestone for the annual Japanese Film Festival in Malaysia, 2019 too marks a special year for The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur team,”

He further added that the collaboration between GSC JFKL is not limited to this annual Japanese Film Festival alone.
“In order to keep Japanese movies fans interest going throughout the year, we work hand in hand for the bi-monthly Japanese Weekend Film Show which is currently free to the public in KL.”

In commemorating the 30thAnniversary celebration, a special anniversary poster was presented to Mr. SHIMADA Seiya by Mr. Heng Beng Fatt as a gift from GSC for the 16 years long close collaboration.
The Japanese Film Festival 2019 will be held in the Klang Valley from 5 to the 11 September at GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama, GSC Pavilion KL, and GSC NU Sentral followed by Penang (GSC Gurney Plaza) from 12–15 September. Johor Bahru is next with GSC Paradigm Mall from 19 to 22 September and JFF will then be touring East Malaysia to Kuching (GSC CityONE Megamall) and Kota Kinabalu (GSC Suria Sabah) from 3 to 6 October.
