The biggest story of the Globes is whether the show, scheduled to air on NBC Jan. 13, will be even be telecast and if so, just how many actors will attend, given the ongoing writers’ strike.
But network executives were celebrating their nods regardless Thursday.
While HBO, per usual, was the most-nominated network, this year it faced increasing competition from AMC, Showtime and FX in the big categories. FX’s Damages, for example, earned the most series nods, including acting nominations for Glenn Close, Ted Danson and Rose Byrne. HBO TV movie Longford tied Damages in number of nods, with four each.
Showtime’s nominations cap a year of steady growth for the pay cable network, which has seen its original series perform as some of HBO’s have struggled. – [source]
