The second edition of the trade and consumer event in Malaysia, dedicated to the café and teahouse communities, was an even bigger hit this year. The three-day multi-sensory event at MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre was packed with visitors from the time it opened its doors at 10am on January 14, 2016 right up to when it closed its doors at 5pm on January 16, 2015.

A record of more than 10,000 visitors
More than 10,000 trade visitors and coffee and tea connoisseurs packed the exhibition hall to view the showcase of raw materials, new products and technologies and seek business opportunities presented by 102 exhibitors from 13 countries.
Café Malaysia 2016 brings together café and teashop owners and managers, importers and exporters, distributors and suppliers of machinery, equipment, and raw materials. It serves as a dynamic B2B platform for key decision makers to source for their café needs and explore new collaborations and opportunities in a country where the number of specialty coffee drinkers has grown over the years.

So successful was the event that more than three-quarters of the exhibitors of Café Malaysia 2016 expressed their intention to participate in the 2017 show even before the 2016 show closed its doors this evening.
The crowds at Café Malaysia 2016 were also thrilled by the competitors of the three national championships, Malaysia Brewer’s Cup (MBrC) 2016, Malaysia Barista Championship (MBC) 2016 and the Malaysia Latte Art Championship (MLAC) 2016.The winner from each respective national championship will represent Malaysia at the World Brewer’s Cup (WBrC) 2016, the World Barista Championship 2016 to be held in Dublin, Ireland, and the World Latte Art Championship 2016 to be held in Shanghai, China. The winners of:
· the Malaysia Brewer’s Cup (MBrC) 2016 was Ms Wong Li Ning of Just Want Coffee;
· the Malaysia Barista Championship (MBC) 2016 was Mr Koay Zizheng of VCR;
· the Malaysia Latte Art Championship (MLAC) 2016 was Mr Eng Boon Hong of JWC Global.
Café Malaysia 2016 is organized by Conference and Exhibitions Management Services (CEMS) and is hosted by the Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association (MSCA). MSCA is a member of the ASEAN Coffee Federation (ACF). The event is supported by Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia and the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau and endorsed by MATRADE.
