Pop punk trio Bunkface will soon celebrate their 10th year with a special concert in conjunction with the release of their upcoming compilation album, Bunkface X.
But that’s not all, the band which recently joined Universal Music Malaysia, has also expressed their plans on releasing their very first English album sometime next year.
“We’re planning on producing an English album next year because it’s been quite some time since we released an English song,” said lead vocalist Sam during the press conference of Bunkface X Live in Kuala Lumpur concert.
“So with our new label, we decided to push our album towards the international market, that’s the plan,” he added.
The band is known to be one of the most famous English-singing Malay bands around.
Their debut single Silly Lily from their first English EP, Lesson of the Season reached number 1 on both Hitz.FM’s Malaysian Top Ten for 8 weeks and Fly.FM’s Campur Chart for 10 weeks.
Sam also said that for the new album, he will be the one composing the songs, but the band will try to get an international talent to produce the album.
“We want to try something new with our first English album. Though we’re still in early stages, we already have some demos, and we will try to send them to some producers,” added the 28-year-old vocalist who just recently became a father.
Apart from the upcoming album and concert, Bunkface has also been nominated in the MTV EMAs Best Southeast Asian act, competing alongside music giants like Yuna, Gentle Bones, Đông Nhi, Raisa, Sarah Geronimo, and Thaitanium.
Voting is open now at mtvema.com, including the Best Southeast Asia Act local voting category, for which wildcard nominee Bunkface (Malaysia) has been chosen by fans via social vote.
The 2016 MTV EMAs will broadcast LIVE around the globe from the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands on MTV on Monday, November 7 at 4am (MY/PH/SG). It will repeat on the same day at 9pm (MY/PH/SG). — THeHive.Asia
