Synopsis:
How is your dream house like? Be it a cottage in a grape winery or a chalet by the beach, everyone has imagined to own a perfect home. Build a New Life In The Country’ follows British adventurers as they strive to pursue their dream lifestyle and home in their dream location.
Our dreamers have ambitious vision for their new homes. These are not new builds; they are restorations, conversions and modernizations, bringing a run-down French farmhouse into the 21st century, restoring a Croatian war ruin or converting an old Spanish palace into a family-run boutique hotel.
Ireland, 18 September
Chris and Rebecca Palmer are fed up being mortgage slaves. They’ve sold their Bradford home, quite their job as a Motor Parts Dealer & Sales Manager and are heading to Ireland with daughter Demelza to escape from modern life.
They’re swapping the 9-5 for the hard graft of being totally self sufficient – growing their own food and keeping livestock. And if this isn’t a big enough challenge, with no building experience and very little money they plan to turn a derelict farmhouse into a family home.
Suffolk, 26 September
The Nuttall’s dream is a simple but one that is by no means easy to achieve. They love the standard of living Adrian’s I.T. work enables them to lead but are fed up not having the time together as a family to enjoy it as he is always away working. So when his wife, Denise, calculated he’d missed half their youngest daughter’s life they decided something had to change. So it’s new home, new job and a new beginning for all the family…..
This family are gambling everything on hot and fiery chillies. They have bought a run down garden centre, barn and farmhouse set on 11 acres of stunning Suffolk countryside and plan to open a chilli farm, shop and restaurant serving everything from Mexican spicy nacho’s to chilli ice cream and doughnuts.
But before this dream can take flight, there’s some serious work to do. With no building experience, Adrian and Denise have to renovate a Suffolk barn and turn it into a restaurant fit for up to 60 diners and the grand opening is in just six months time…
