With BTS dropping its highly-anticipated album, MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA today, Spotify can confirm the worldwide K-Pop phenomenon is the first K-Pop group to surpass 5 billion streams on its platform. They also set the record as the first artist from Asia to have hit this milestone.
To celebrate the album release, the follow up to 2018’s award-winning, chart-topping Love Yourself 結’Answer’, BTS has dedicated a special Spotify playlist of their favourite music to their fans – AKA the ARMY – who have supported them with these achievements. For the next seven days, the BTS boys will take control of Spotify’s Teen Partyplaylist, selecting songs from around the world that has inspired them.
Tracks selected include Halsey’s Without Me, Queen’s legendary anthem Bohemian Rhapsodyand Billie Eillish’sidontwannabeyouanymore.
As well as reaching the 5 billion streams milestone, BTS have a whopping 10 million followers on Spotify. Their hit song ‘FAKE LOVE’ – Spotify’s most streamed K-Pop track of 2018 – has brought the group over 219 million streams. They are also the most streamed K-Pop group in Malaysia.
