As the first-ever Starlight Carnival kicks into full swing at Resorts World Genting today, guests are also in store for a wonderful musical treat. Taking the stage at the Oktoberfest Hall at the Carnival will be tributes to three of the greatest rock bands ever – the Gipsy Kings, The Beatles and Queen – providing a unique soundtrack to the outdoor festival and delivering a concentrated dose of musical nostalgia for three consecutive weekends.
In between all Carnival’s movies, food, games and the merry celebrations at the Oktoberfest Hall, music will be a key element in enhancing the experience of the Starlight Carnival. Which is why Resorts World Genting has invited three internationally acclaimed tribute bands to headline each weekend, who will come together to rock you, groove you and move you.
Kicking off the series will be The Gipsy King Tribute Band, who will bring the distinctive flamenco-influenced sounds of the Gipsy Kings to Resorts World Genting on 11 and 12 October 2019. Pioneering the groovy Catalan rumba style, The Gipsy Kings took over Europe in late 1980s with massive Latin-flavoured hits such as Bamboleo, Djobi Djoba, Volare and Baila Me.
Perfect for creating a joyful atmosphere at any event, this tribute band from Andalusia of Southern Spain is the ideal way to start off the Starlight Carnival: with a festive bang and infectious beats.
On 18 and 19 October, the Starlight Carnival will hum to the unforgettable tunes of the most influential band of all time – The Beatles. Bid welcome to The Australian Beatles, who put together a live Beatles experience like no other. Zipping through the history of the Fab Four – from the mop top hair of I Want To Hold Your Hand to the psychedelic costumes of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the sumptuous bluesy sounds of Abbey Road – The Australian Beatles are recognised as the top Beatles tribute band in Australia and Asia.
Consisting of Tommy Jennis (Paul McCartney, who even plays left-handed!), Carmelo Detiva (John Lennon), Rocky Evangelisti (George Harrison) and David Swan (Ringo Starr), get ready to Twist and Shout, because All You Need Is Love and The Australian Beatles.
Rounding off the tribute band line-up is Killer Queen, the official Italian tribute band to the one of the most electrifying rock groups of all time: Queen. Set to rule the Starlight Carnival stage on 25 and 26 October, Killer Queen – Yaser Ramadan (lead vocals), Mario Assennato (lead guitar), Giacinto Bargiachhi (bass guitar), Daniele Trambusti (drums), Nicola Angiolucci (keyboards) and Antonio Gabellini (acoustic guitar) – will bring the house down with the same intense energy that Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor always delivered. There will be no Innuendo here, only A King of Magic and a Bohemian Rhapsody, as Killer Queen declares that the Show Must Go On.
And go on it will, with even more musical acts coming to support this killer line-up of tribute bands at the Resorts World Genting Starlight Carnival. On the Oktoberfest Hall stage, with opening acts by Filipino bands Part III and Society of Souls. They will provide a soundtrack of classic evergreen songs while the Oompah Band gets into the groove, and a selection of local acoustic artists serenade guests at the Gazebo stage for the 3 weeks. And on 2 November 2019, the final day of the Carnival, get ready to put your hands in the air and dance like you just don’t care as the Starlight Carnival presents the first ever Zouk Live!
