Translate 3.1 is the biggest update to the Translate app in several years. The launch includes UI updates and many new features for both Android and iOS. The two biggest new features are Word Lens & auto-detection of language in conversation mode.
Some of the major highlights include:
Word lens instant translate: A magical feature that provides instant, offline translations using your phone’s camera. A brand new feature that supports English to/from French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Conversation mode: Auto-detection of language in conversation mode brings Translate one step closer to the universal translator. You need only speak and Translate will do the rest. New languages: Chinese (Mandarin), Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese.
Camera input (new for iOS): Snap or mark an image via the smartphone camera in the Translate app and get instant translations. Includes for Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay.
