AIRASIA Offers Service Recovery Options For Earthquake-Affected Guests
Due to the earthquake which took place on the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra on Wednesday and a triggering tsunami alert for the Indian Ocean, AirAsia is offering service recovery options for affected guests flying from or to AirAsia stations point of departure which is closed due to this alert.
Affected guests have two options:
- Guests may move to next available flight or postpone travel to any date within 3 months period, without fees and fare difference charges. New travel dates are subjected to seat availability.
- Obtain a credit shell option which is a system that retains the amount of money which can be used for later transactions. The credit shell will be valid for up to 3 months from the date of issue.
- All affected guests will be contacted for flight changes and cancellations.
- Phuket International Airport will officially be closed until 08.00hrs on Thursday, 12 April 2012. AirAsia’s flights to and from Phuket will resume according to the airport’s operating hours. AirAsia is monitoring development of the situation and will make further announcements should there be a need to extend the period.
- AirAsia currently operates flights from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur (4 flights per day), Bangkok (9 flights per day), Chiang Mai (2 flights per day), Ubon Ratchathani (3 flights per week), Udon Thani (daily), Hong Kong (daily), Singapore (daily), Bali (4 flights per week) and Jakarta (3 flights per week).
- Many governments have issued alerts to their citizens to avoid travelling into the affected area because of the possible tsunami. Holidaymakers are advised to defer any non-essential travel to affected destinations at this point in time due to disruptions and logistical constraint.
- AirAsia urged its guests to adhere to alerts from authorities and we look forward to the situation being resolved as soon as possible.
