SAMSUNG WAVE SERIES USERS SHOW INSATIABLE ‘APP’ETITE
“Contest Entrants Download Over 60,000 Apps in 20 Days”
Kuala Lumpur, 3 March, 2011 – Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn. Bhd., one of the nation’s top performing smartphone innovators awarded winners of the successful ‘Samsung Apps Top Downloader Contest’, which saw Samsung Wave Series users downloaded a whopping 60,000 bada apps over the span of 20 days.
Speaking about the success of the campaign Mr. Yu Jai Sul, Managing Director, Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn. Bhd. said, “The response for the campaign was overwhelming. The smartphone market is insatiable not only for constantly evolving and superior devices but also for applications. At Samsung we are committed to making sure that consumers have both the devices and the applications that they want.”
The contest featured a grand prize of a 40-inch C5000 LED TV. Three lucky winners walked away with a Galaxy Tab each as the second prize; while third prize saw two contest entrants receive a Samsung Netbook (NF310) each. There were also 30 consolation prizes of Bluetooth headsets (WEP470).
“As with our other contests, Samsung made it easy for consumers to enter. Samsung Wave owners only needed to sign up as a member and then start downloading apps. The winner was based on who downloaded the most number of apps during the 20 days window.”
“As an industry pioneer, we will continue to set the benchmark for others to follow and continue to develop more devices and more apps to enhance and enrich consumers’ lifestyle.”
“I would like to congratulate to all the contest winners. I am sure they will enjoy their new Samsung products and I hope to see their names on the entrants list for our next contests,” concluded Mr. Yu.
Samsung’s innovation of bada platform now features five models of smartphones in the Samsung Wave Series, to suit different consumer needs. As for applications, Samsung owners can choose from close to 5000 bada apps ranging from games to business tools and from reader’s hubs to maps.
