AirAsia Celebrates an AllStar Wedding!
Airline hosts world’s first Indian wedding for long-serving employee
SEPANG, 9 December 2010 – AirAsia today hosted a unique in-flight wedding for its long serving employee and AirAsia AllStars family member, Kamaleswaran Sarveswaran @ Iswara, 34, and his lovely bride, Thanusyia Ramakrishnan, 28.
The traditional Indian wedding, complete with drums and Nadaswaram was attended by friends and relatives of the bride and bridegroom. Also present were members of the AirAsia family, led by its Chairman, Dato’ Aziz Bakar, who surprised the couple by conveying his well wishes in true flight attendant style – via the aircraft public address system!
Guests boarded the special flight from the LCCT at 5pm for a round trip flight back after the rites and toe-ring ceremony on the tarmac. Once the seat belt sign went off, Iswara proceeded to tie the Thali on Thanusyia at 30,000 feet above sea level to complete a truly memorable evening for AirAsia and everyone involved with the wedding.
In his first speech as a married man, Iswara thanked Dato’ Aziz Bakar for his presence and AirAsia for hosting his dream wedding. Guests were treated to a sumptuous spread of Indian savories upon arrival at the LCCT.
