Futuromic aims to create awareness
BY the year 2010 photography has become a lifestyle instead of just a profession. Thanks to the advancing digital world almost every one now owns a camera.
Amateur photographers and those who are keen on photography as a hobby now have easy access to photography-related information such as where to buy photographic equipments, how and where to participate in photography contests and which support as well as community groups are available for them to enroll with as members.
One of Malaysia‟s leading distributors of photography and imaging products, Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd, today launched the announcement of its first, solely organized Futuromic Imaging Fair (FIF 2010) to be held at the Lower Ground Concourse of Berjaya Times Square between October 22 and 24 from 10am to 10pm daily.
Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd is well represented by dealers and resellers nationwide. It is currently the exclusive & nationwide distributor of many well known brands such as Nikon, Sandisk, Ricoh, Tamron, Mitsubishi and many more. All products distributed by the company will be showcased and viewed at the Fair.
“There be a variety of photography related activites such as performances, dances and games during the three-day Imaging Fair. Photography enthusiasts can look forward to participate in contests, talks cum workshops conducted by our guest professional photographers and getting complimentary lens inspection and cleaning service,” commented by Mr Jeffery Ng, Sales Director of Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd.
He added, “It is also the company‟s aims and objectives to bring together the local photography fraternity to a hands-on experience of „feel and touch‟ on the wide range of photographic products we distribute.”
In 2009, Futuromic became a joint-managing partner for Nikon Centre Kuala Lumpur, which is Malaysia‟s first and South East Asia‟s largest Nikon Centre located at Berjaya Times Square mall. Its rise to its dominant position in the industry attests its agility in adapting to the changing needs of its customers and its active contribution to the growth in Malaysia‟s photography industry.
Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd is also pleased to announce the Giving Frames Photography Grant Project during the October 22 event. Giving Frames is a Photography Grant Project initiated by Francis Lai, the Managing Director of Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd. His vision is to promote the awareness and responsibility in worthy social causes through photography, a first of its kind grant dedicated to support photography related projects.
Lai hopes to get many more Malaysian photographers to become a part of Giving Frames. PhotoMalaysia is also in a joint partnership with Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd to oversee the management and implementation of this grant project.
The grant of maximum RM30,000 to fund production costs for a non-profit photography project. Recipients of the grant can be any Malaysian photographers, a non-profit photography society or institution, group or individual. The proposed project MUST reflect the grant‟s mission, which is “to inspire and influence others to a worthy social cause through photography”.

Upon selection the recipient has up to a year to work on their project. Images from the project may form part of the following year‟s exhibits for auction and printing of postcards to contribute towards the cause of the grant.
