THE ANTICIPATION IS ON FOR 8TV AS THE ASIAN TELEVISION AWARDS PULLS IN
The Asian Television Awards is back! Moreover Malaysia ’s hippest and trendiest television network 8TV, stood out strong as the nominees of this award, that showcases and credits the best in television programming throughout the region were announced.
The Asian Television Awards (ATA) is the Asian television industry’s most significant and distinguished event, that recognizes the eminence in programming, production and performance. This is an award that aims to reward and recognize the work of individuals as well as give reverence to the many talents in the Asian region. Now flourishing into its 15th year, ATA remains the only pan-Asian media event of such prestige and reputation. It not only recognizes talent but also spurs industry progress and enhances the glamour of regional media.
This year, ATA 2010 has attracted a strong response with almost 1,000 entries flowing in from 15 countries across the region, namely, Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand.
With three additional categories including ‘Best Lifestyle Programme’, ‘Best Drama Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role’, and ‘Best Drama Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role’ being introduced to the list, a total of 37 awards are waiting to be taken home this year.
At the announcement of nominees, 8TV celebrated its achievement after being nominated for four awards in three different categories. In the programming category, for Best Entertainment (One-Off/Annual) Special, 8TV received two nominations for its hippest award show the SHOUT! AWARDS 2009 as well as its renowned singing reality program ULTIMATE POWER GROUP Season 2, GRAND FINALS. Apart from that, the television station that is thriving into its eight year soon, also received nominations in the Performance Category and Technical & Creative Category for Best Drama Performance By An Actor In A Leading Role by Lee Cheng Yun in The Adjusters and Best Editing for The Adjusters – Kidnap, respectively.
The Awards will be judged by a minimum of six juries, each ideally comprising of five or more members. The judging process will be conducted on-line while the results will be tabulated and audited by an international auditing firm before it is finally revealed at the Award Ceremony.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the ATA 2010 Gala Dinner that is set to be held in Singapore on 9th December, 2010.
